The Road Back

“How can I possibly get there?” I asked.

“Did you forget about Adam’s Peak?” Ashoka asked. He was walking toward me.

“I guess I did, didn’t I.”

“It may be forgiven, after such a long journey.”

“Hey! Hey! What’s with all the rhyming?” Shermin called out, stomping in. “I didn’t bring him here for a character study. I didn’t bring him here to save the elephants for that.”

“(She’s right),” Ashoka whispered. “You’d best be started on your journey. I hear the bus leaves at 8 o’clock in the morning.”

“Thanks, Dharmasiri,” I hugged him. “Goodbye, everybody.”

WHOOP! WHOOP! they all yelled after me.

“Patum,” I heard Sameera gravely say, “don’t talk about war. Talk about peace.” as I boarded the train. And he was happy. As I rode on the bus, Is aw my destiny coming toward me. It was Adam’s Peak, looming right in front of me.
