Thebes

Thebes

Hi! I’m Austin! Thebes is one of the most amazing places I think I’ve ever seen. Everyone’s always working and everyone’s always happy. I come from a place where the grass is always green and the river’s always overflowing but I’ve never quite seen a place like this, where everyone always really and truly is working and they seem like they’re happy to do it, because it looks like they’re on their way to achieving something. I can’t really figure out what it is yet. People seem to be digging trenches all along the water, and far from it in the golden sands of the desert, almost like they actually thought they could build a city! I don’t know how they expect to do that. In the desert it’s really hot and sweaty. My armpits are actually melting. The Pharaoh says we have to build a sphinx. I don’t know why we have to build a sphinx since we already learned about my sphincter muscle. It’s really hard for me to control myself in the desert! I just want to dance! I just want to sing! I want to run all over this place and I’m thinking maybe it IS possible. Oh well! Maybe someday! I like drinking my head in the water. Then I look like King Tut. I’m the ruler of all Egypt! I’m practically 18 years old. I like smiling in the water and pulling my caravan through the desert. I like making my paper out of reeds. I like drawing really cool pictures. They’re called hieroglyphics. They’re just pictures. They don’t mean anything. All I want is for
