Hi! I’m Austin! I’m a teacher

Hi! I’m Austin! I  I think my book is going to save the world. I know that sounds kind of crazy. It’s just that ever since I’ve been a little kid my Mommy’s always told me that I can do anything, and my Daddy owns a really great company. It’s an ice cream factory. We have all sorts of birthday parties. Today’s my birthday. I’m going to be traveling all sorts of places I’ve never been. The first thing I’m going to do is build my rocket ship. The good thing is I’m giving instructions. The second good thing is I already have kids.

I’m the founder of Running Readers, a program dedicated to helping kids (of all ages) find their story. I’ve been a teacher for many years, starting out as a teacher at my university, tutoring kids at Sylvan Learning (where I first encountered Wonder), and then deciding to start my own company. For Q4 I was Pier 1’s top Customer Service Associate. I received congratulations from lots of people. I even got a letter from the vice president!!!

Everyone’s been asking to see my story. I was hoping I could show you some of it!!!

starting out as an assistant teacher at my university, moving on to Sylvan Learning to become a tutor, and then starting my own company. I believe that the most important thing we can possibly teach kids to do is find their own story. Each story will be different, but it will all have one thing in common: me. Me is the most amazing thing. It’s been passed down through history. It all starts at a birthday party.

THE CREATION

What I have found is a glaring lack of creativity and inspiration for kids to start their own story. I seek to change the world and inspire people to save the world and tell their own story by telling my story.

WHY I AM THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB

I am the sum of all the people who came before me. My Papa was a traveling salesman selling children’s clothing. My Grandma was a secretary. My Dad always wanted to be a Disney director. My Mom always wanted to be an actress.

MARKETS

I believe that there is a huge unrealized yet-to-be-tapped market of stories written BY children FOR children. The success of Diary of a Wimpy Kid over the past several years is one of the clearest examples of this—but why not go a step further? It’s still a step removed from the wonder of walking into the bookstore and actually seeing a sheet of papers that you HONESTLY BELIEVE is written by a kid just like you—and is. We all still have this childlike wonder within all of us, waiting to be released.

PLATFORM

I have a plan that when everyone knows about me, I will know how to save the world—me.
